Great ice cream maker
TLDR - If you have the space and want professional grade icecream or sorbet from well made sturdy kit buy it!Ok now that's out of the way let's start with the negatives. Firstly it is large and it is heavy if that's an issue then arguably avoid ANY ice-cream machine. The only other potential downside is no gelato setting (I don't care so 🤷♂️) my only real gripe is a loud finish beep would be handy and yeah that's itnow for the pros after 16 Liters of both ice-cream and sorbets and I am stunned at how good this is. Once you have mix ready it takes a maximum of 1hr if fridge cold for 2 liters of fantastically smooth ice cream. You can set time yourself (I do) or let run for full 60mins i would advise keeping an eye first few times so you know how long yours takes then use that number for next time you use same mi as it can be much less if you do smaller batch or split my 2l base below for multi flavours. I also find it easier to remove just before hard set as easier to remove plastic mixer (if stuck DO NOT FORCE IT) use silicone spatula (NO METAL) to remove ice cream to put in tubs. Rince in sink dry entirely and you are done cleaningIt's easy to use, clean and has basically three modes. 1) make ice cream 2) mix only 3)keep cold and trust me that's all you need. Mix is perfect to add in stuff one nearly ready Jen and Berry's style below I have added how I make ice-cream and it worked perfectly, feel free to use as a base. For ice cream recipe go on BBC good food for Ultimate vanilla ice cream remove vanilla and double this for just under 2liter ice-cream mix is less as it expands DO NOT USE 2 LITERS OF LIQUID) is the perfect base mix for you to add flavour (double espresso from pod etc, just saying). The only real pressure point is not adding eggs to too hot mix (we don't want scrambled eggs). Relax take your time it's worth it. I make mix day before and cover with cling film on surface (no skin this way) n fridge for sorbets experiment you can literally use ANY fruit blended (tinned, frozen etc) with water and sugar. If it comes out grainy /icy it's due to low sugar bonus just melt add sugar and it's fixed 👍Thank you for reading this far

First Try
Firstly, it does not make 2L. I used 1.5L and due to the expansion during the 60 min cycle if nearly went over. Yes, it does state to only fill to 80% in the manual and that also means less than 2L. With the receipt I used the 60min cycle finished at 56min, which means it has finished and if is ready, we'll the ice cream is still not that 'thick' and could not be served. You have to put the ice cream into a container and into the freezer. Now, getting it out of the container is a very messy process and you gave to be quick otherwise it starts to melt. Update......just made a 'coffee' ice-cream only approx. 700ml and the machine finished in 24mins....so it looks like the 'time' is related to both quantity and ingredients used. Nice and smooth, turn out into a container and place in freezer, very smooth and tasty ice cream. Also I'm using 'xanthan gum' as a stabilizer. Update...If the system 'finishes' before the set time eg 60mins can either a user or Amazon or the Manufacturer confirm that the 'auto freeze' still starts. In the manual it only states that this will happen when the time set runs out...thanks

Great machine
This is a great ice cream machine with generous capacity. I have already made 2 lovely batches of ice cream.

It's not 2 litres - review of marketing, packaging, and instructions
These comments refer to the ice-cream maker's marketing, packaging, and instructions only as I've just washed the removal parts in preparation for making the first batch of ice cream. I have high expectations. However, some things you may want to be aware of:- Capacity. The device is marketed as "2L" - this is misleading. The bucket is more like 1.7L filled to the absolute brim - and you'd never want to do that. The included recipes are all for around 1L of ingredients (which will expand during freezing), so don't plan on mixing up two litres.- Instructions. There's a mention of a maximum fill line - there is no line anywhere on the bucket. I'm betting it should be somewhere around the 1L level.- Recipe leaflet. Extremely limited and a very poor translation, with inconsistent terminology (light cream or whipping cream? And what is "pure milk"? Is that full fat, skimmed, or an indication that it should be dairy not a non-dairy product?)- Packaging and shipping. All recyclable external packaging (brilliant!) but still plastic used to protect the internals (not so brilliant).- Components. The paddle looks like cheap plastic and I'm a bit concerned that it will become brittle on freezing - time will tell. I just hope there will be a replacement available if/when it breaks.Value for money? In comparison to other ice cream makers (and to the Ninja Creami, which is NOT an ice cream maker) it's a deal. Now to test it in operation!UPDATE: After using twice to make ice cream.1) The instructions forget to tell you to press the Start/Stop button BEFORE selecting the program (instead, they tell you not to switch the machine off as you'll have to wait three minutes to restart it). I was prodding unsuccessfully at the SET button trying to choose the program, thinking it wasn't working.2) The first time I used it, the paddle stopped moving about half way through. I suspect this was because I put the paddle in place and then added the mix (it's a lot easier to seat it that way), but I am not sure. The second time, I followed the instructions and put the mix into the bucket first and then the paddle (quite tricky because you can't see where to place it). This time it kept turning, though eventually the clear lid worked itself loose and started rattling.3) I suspect I didn't mix my custard and single cream well enough, because one part of the ice cream froze harder than the rest.I'm still concerned that the plastic parts won't stand the test of time - I'd much prefer if it had a metal paddle and moving parts, but you get what you pay for.I'm keeping the rating at three stars as the instructions are severely deficient, the recipes very limited (and don't seem to match the capacity of the machine), and because of the doubts about the plastic bits.
