This seems a neater and less violent way of removing the puck from a portafilter. Mine works faultlessly, it's easy to clean too and looks quite smart.

This unit offers an easier / cleaner solution to coffee puck removal than a knock box.It has a large capacity collection chamber, which cleans really easily, I found just rinsing cleans away any remains after you've removed the main contents. If you leave the pucks dry out, they can be tipped out very easily.The vacuum system works well providing you lay the portafilter flat to the units locator, then vacuum can then work, if its not flat then air is drawn in past the portafilter reducing the efficiency.One tip if you use an open bottom portafilter then and stubborn pucks are helped with a light tap on the filter basket base during the vacuum cycle.Surprisingly It will work with the Sage 54mm portafilter, whilst its not designed / advertised to work with 54mm, it does without any modification, you just need to take a little more care laying the portafilter in place. I've used both 54mm and 58mm, the larger being very easy.

First time used it I didn’t seal it properly, since then it has been excellent and works every time. I just listen for the drop and know it’s in there. Seems a lot of money for what it is, but takes away the banging and will be good for people with poor grip due to ill health. For me it should be cheaper to buy but overall I’m happy with its performance and function

This is a great gadget when it works. Sadly the first one stopped after only a couple of months. As I bought direct from Sage I contacted them and had a fight in my hands to get the unit replaced under warranty. Eventually a replacement was sent, worked well again for a few months then once more stopped working completely despite really careful use and cleaning.My advice, save your money, just not worth it for a couple of months use
