Works exactly as expected, although it takes some know-how to get the best performance.iPad Pro connects with 44.1k AAC, which doesn't seem changeable.Samsung Galaxy S20+ initially connects with 44.1k aptX, but I switched to 96k LDAC by going to the Bluetooth settings in the phone for the DS500 it's paired to. The LDAC sound quality is definitely better, probably more due to specifics the codec implementation than just the sample rate.Pairing was easy and connections seem stable over the short range in my living room. I'm only using the RCA outputs to connect to my vintage stereo. I can't comment on the coax or optical outputs. I haven't explored the EQ settings, but Norm seems fine. The volume control has enough range to get some clipping at the stereo preamp if set too high.The only negative so far is that it would be nice if it remembered six or seven devices instead of just two (e.g. my wife's phone, each of our computers, and a musical instrument with LL aptX Bluetooth output).I also haven't explored the USBC wired mode. I have PC-based virtual instruments that could use this, but I'm not optimistic that they're compatible. I may update this review after trying that.

Easy to use, easy to set up. Better sound than my old recieved. Display also nice as it shows what is playing.

First tested to an inexpensive 2 satellite and subwoofer speakers with only volume and bass controls set to midline; I am surprised how balance and lively the sound of the high, mid, and low frequencies. This speaker hardware and cell phone setup doesn't give you more controls enhancing the sound, however, Equalizer feature of this device gives you more feature selections how you want it tuned to your desired music taste. The LDAC sampling rate in conjunction with Android's phone, it opens the sound even more from aptX mode. This device will eventually be connected to an old school HiFi stereo system for a convenient streaming favorite music from a cell, table and computer sources. I highly recommend this DS500 device.

When this DAC is used with the LDAC driver A2DP from Luculent systems on a PC, it comes very close to a wired DAC with a streamer. When use with the lossy LDAC driver, introduced by Sony, the bit rate can go up to 990 kbps. You must get the LDAC driver. It only cost a small fee, like $5.99.

The unit arrived well-packed with simple accompanying instructions. Simply connected to an unused "source" on the Yamaha amplifier and paired the unit to my iPhone. Excellent sound! This transformed my 10 y/o amplifier by adding a wireless connection and allowing me to use the internet as a music source. Delighted. Thank you.

Since technology just can't stop evolving I was out of options to use my music apps on my phone with my home stereo system.This thing is a game changer!!!Hooked up easily and the connection to my phone is almost instant!Sound quality is spot on!I couldn't be happier!The only thing I don't like about it is if you change the setting on it to Rock or Country ect.... it does not store that. So everytime you turn it on you have to go back and change that.But it's worth it for what this magical little box does. I have not tried any of the cheaper versions so I have nothing to compare it to.I just went with a more top of the line right out the gate.Cause you get what you pay for.Love it!Music=Life 🎶🤘

Perfect!! Buy it!! Helps when using WiFi outside!!

The most frustrating device I've bought in a long time. Fails to connect to Bluetooth. Then when it finally does, no audio from optical. Have to keep re-powering on and off until it finally outputs audio or reconnects to Bluetooth. When it's finally running it's OK but too many times I've spent 15+ mins trying to get it to connect. I should have returned this thing sooner.UPDATE: 3 Months LaterStill the worst product I ever bought. Been struggling with it since day one. I thought to try alternate methods which none have worked. The instructions are limited and I have found this unit to be total garbage. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!
