Excellent
I tested this gadget out on various pieces of wood I have set aside in the garage, for later use in the wood burner and appears to work well. The Kiln dried logs I have bought show as accurate 20% moisture content, comparing to other logs I have accumulated which are recently cut having higher moisture content as expected. This will enable me to sort those logs, knowing which is suitable to use now or save for further drying out or seasoning.Gadget is nice and compact too. Very pleased.

this is a good piece of kit to have around as you need ...
Bought this meter to ensure the moisture content of logs I am burning on my multi stove is not to high. Burning logs with a high moisture content can lead to a tarred up chimney and the danger of a chimney fire. Product arrived well packaged and contained the meter, a battery, spare probes (2), a carry case and instructions. Popped the battery into the back of the meter, removed the protective cap from the head of the meter and was met by two VERY sharp and pointy probes. Do not let your kids play with this meter!!. The meter is simplicity in itself. Get your log (or piece of wood) and press the two probes into chosen item. A large LCD screen gives an immediate reading of the moisture content. You can hold this reading on screen should you desire. The meter range is from 5% to 40%. I think, if you have a wood burner, this is a good piece of kit to have around as you need to burn logs with a moisture content of around 20% (or lower) Worth the money

Neat little gadget, good investment.
This is perfect for testing your logs for moisture content. I have been able to use wood cut from my garden after storing it for a couple of years and know that I won't tar up my chimney or ruin my expensive new wood burner. A good investment. It comes with a spare set of prongs which seem very strong and fit for the purpose. I have only used it briefly to test my logs and the readings are what I would expect and seem accurate. The storage case is an added bonus. Delivery was very quick, I would recommend buying this useful gadget.

Easy to use, works perfectly, comes complete with 9V battery and carrying case. Essential for burning logs :)
I recently had a new inglenook fireplace built into my cottage and had installed a multi-fuel burner in which I will be burning logs and smokeless coal. I was advised by the Hetas installer who installed my wood burner that I should buy a digital moisture meter and he recommended this one.I am very pleased with it already. It came in a box, complete with a 9V battery and a nice carrying bag to keep it in when not in use. There is also a user guide. The moisture meter is quite simple to operate, I figured it out prior to reading the instructions (I'm usually too impatient to read them and generally only do if I cannot figure out how to use something) and within seconds I had installed the 9V battery into the battery compartment and I was testing the moisture content of some logs I had sat in a log basket by the fire. I was pleased to see that they were all below 18%, averaging out at 14%. My installer told me only to use logs that were of a moisture content of less than 18% for maximum efficiency etc.Its easy to operate, comes complete with batter, a spare set of pins and case and I am very happy with it.RECOMMENDED!

Good for logs
I’m no expert on damp meters but this does what I wanted it to - tells me percentage dampness of logs for my log burner - simple and effective. Really easy to use and comes in a nice case. Am pleased with it.

It measures damp.
Not had the item long enough to be able to give a proper response to how good or bad it may be but I can say it does give a reading (2 percent) on a bit of ultra dry wood that has been hanging around my garage for a couple of years, I may start charging it rent, and it gave a very much higher reading on one of my deck planks that has been down for over two years and is constantly damp due to rain, will this rain never stop ✋ So I would have to say that based on just those two measurements that it works. For my purposes, wood burner logs moisture level, I’m sure it would be adequate and it’s fast so when the delivery man drops my next bulk builders bags of oak I’ll be able to check that the logs are 20% or less as stated by the seller. Bet they love these meters 😂

A robust value for money product that is easy to use.
Purchased to measure moisture content of logs for a wood burning stove.Easy to use.Insert the provided 9v battery into the unit, switch it on, remove the protective cover from the head of the unit to reveal the stainless steel prongs, (which you get a spare pair of) ‘lightly’ press the prongs into the wood, or whatever surface you wish to check the moisture content of, the units display panel immediately gives a percentage reading. That simple! The unit seems to be well made and relatively robust. It comes with its own zip up bag.Personally I think it’s worth the money.
