I really like the Snow Joe brand of ice melt. They aren't all the same though. This particular one has much larger pieces of "ice melt", and WOW it really packs a heat punch. Ice crackles as it melts, and the large pieces of this style linger a very long time. So it keeps on working, doesnt disappear too quickly. Really nice for brutal patches of ice. You want the particles to be able to sit and do their job. Finer particles work well for thinner ice or thin slick spots, or as a proactive measure. This though.. get for those times that the ice is relentless. Nice to see it still working a couple days later.

There is a story about the Snow Melt product. The original order that I had placed was for 7 50LB bags of the Snow Melt. As a result, I could only account for 6 of the 7 50-lb bags ordered, which subsequently prompted a call to the Snow Joe Ice Melt people. I did talk to customer service and was taken seriously. The missing bag of the Snow Melt was lost by a common carrier who was responsible for the apparent mishandling and subsequent short which the call to Customer Service served to advise. I was glad to have talked to the Snow Melt people as I was to be sent the claim of a lost and unaccounted bag of the Snow Melt product. The replaced bag arrived within a reasonable period with a further note. This is an excellent product. a short while after some chilly weather set in, ice and some slick services needed attention, indeed I used two of the bags of the Snow Melt product with any ice or any challenging buildup treated judiciously. The buildup of ice and some coating of snow was very effectively removed by the Snow Joe Ice Melt. This did not take any extended period either, it was very effective and went to work as soon as it hit the ground. I was impressed with the Snow Joe Ice Melt and as well I will extend a care as to the Customer Service. I respected the ability of the Snow Joe Ice Melt people to provide a care and courteous consideration. There is no question as to both issues of integrity and a product as effective as the Snow Joe Ice Melt has proven to be.

Having lived most of my life in the northeastern part of the US, I've been using de-icers for decades. I've used differing types from myraid companies. I've become more selective over the years. At this point in time, my main concerns are the product being pet-friendly and not harmful to concrete. (In addition to working well and being affordable!)Looks are deceiving for this particular brand; it genuinely looks like rock salt. The price was perfect at about $1/lb. Yes, it's heavy like rock salt. But, you do what you have to in order to avoid slipping on ice. I'm accustomed to being able to use de-icers sparingly and having them work quite well. With Snow Joe, I found I had to apply it rather liberally for a result with which I felt comfortable. For me, it turned out to be more like $2/lb. So, expect to purchase about twice as much in order to achieve your desired goal.

One of the standout features is how easy it is to see where it’s been applied, ensuring even coverage without waste.Another huge plus is that it’s pet-friendly, so I don’t have to worry about my animals’ safety when they’re outside. The 25-pound bag is a great size, providing plenty of product to get through the winter. Overall, it’s effective, easy to use, and animal-safe—everything I could ask for in an ice melt. Why did you pick this product vs others?:Only ice melt we use. Does a great job!

In 2017 we had a large raised (textured) metal wheelchair ramp; installed for my grandma. Who couldn't do steps anymore safely at 90+. Living on the East coast my first question was how do I care for this in the winter? The installer said Snow Joe and proceeded to pull a jug out of his truck (In September). He said this is what I tell all my clients to get. No complaints yet.We have used it for the last five winters. The latest through the "bombcyclone" with subzero temperature and wind chill like I can't remember before. Snow Joe worked like a dream.One problem we found with our ramp design is ice and show drift and freezes our door shut. I learned to put a heavy line of Snow Joe on the outside and inside of our door frame at the top lip of our ramp . This really helps fix the freezing door issue.A few of our neighbors have concrete driveways that are hard to care for I split a bag with them one year and now they are Snow Joe converts too.One thing I have noticed when I have purchased the Pails or buckets from other sources (outside of the Amazon marketplace online or local stores.) It doesn't always appear to be the Green Pet & environment friendly Snow Joe Melt 2 Go ; even when the labeling says that's what is inside. (It is white pellets )However whenever I place an order for the bags on Amazon.com or AmazonSmile I receive sealed bags of green Snow Joe Melt as labeled. There is not enough stars available for this product in our opinion.I have mobility issues of my own from mild C. P. & R.R.M.S. That as I get older falls on ice are more of a concern. Snow Joe has become the meaning of Peace of mind. It "eats through" snow and ice like a hot knife through cold butter. What I found works best for our ramp is to pre-treat just before snow fall ; then I add more once the snow stops. If it's only 2 to3 inches I might not even need a shovel a couple of hours later, depending on the temperature. We highly recommended this to others.
