good alternative is you can't afford therapy
I've suffered with pretty bad social anxiety for a quite some time, and this book has been tremendously helpful for helping to overcome those anxieties. Although its mostly comprised of "basic" coping skills, the authors articulate them in a very understanding and sympathetic manner.

Great step in the right direction
This book helped me manage my anxiety in a major way! It made me much more aware of how I have control over my brain and equipped me with the tools to live with my anxiety and to not let it control my life. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to take control back from their anxiety

Felt significant improvement in managing anxiety after reading
My psychiatrist recommended to read this book when I was trying to figure out the best form of treatment for my anxiety. After reading this book I have been able to challenge my anxious thoughts whenever they come up and became better at self soothing. It almost feels like I became my own therapist. I’ve combined this with talk therapy and felt so much improvement. There are so many gems in this book and I’ve underlined several sentences that became my mantra.
