Jack's MagicJMIRON2 Iron or Cobalt Spot Etching Stuff, 2 lb

I had some stains from metal chips, (which I didn't know at the time),that fell in my pool. I bought a chlorine tab holder to rub on the stain and also used algae killer, neither worked. This worked and quickly.

I bought a home with an existing gunite pool about three years ago. The home was 35 years old and I think the pool is nearly as old. It was terribly satined with dark streaks and spots. A few years ago I acid washed the spa section and it turned white but it did leave the finish a bit coarse. I have since tried all kinds of products on the pool with no improvement and was resigned to the fact that I would probably have to acid wash the entire 20K gallon pool as well. The other day I came across this product on Amazon and was skeptical but decided to give it a try. It was a big gamble because I did not pretest the stains to determine the type of staining I had and did not use any of the other Jacks Magic products the instructions recommended to go with this one. I did make sure my chemistry parameters were in the recommended ranges. I put two bottles of this stuff in and where clumps settled the finish turned a bit yellow at first. I brushed the clumps to dissolve them and left the pool pump on for 48 hours. After a few hours there was no change. Eight hours later I finally saw some improvement with the yellow spots I created gone. Every 8 hours or so I would check the progress and each time I felt it was better. At 36 hours I felt it had made about a 50% improvement in stain fading. At the 48 hour mark I was blown away with the results. It was easily 90% as white as the spa section with no damage to the finish. It’s now been 56 hours and it is still getting better. I do have a few bottles of The Blue Stuff on order in case the minimal staining I have left are copper based. So hopefully I don’t mess anything up by adding that. I’ll update this review with those results later.. At this point I can say it was the best $100 I have spent on a pool finish cleaning product.Update: It’s been three days since I added The Blue Stuff, stains have continued to fade and have not returned. I can’t say for sure whether The Blue Stuff made a difference but since it’s been 6 days since my original treatment with this product, well past the 48 hours it is supposed to be effective so I think The Blue Stuff has helped. Satisfied customer here! If I do it again I’ll be sure to add both at the same time per the instructions that I neglected to follow.

Worked beautifully. Cleaned up the metal stain around pool at water line and spots on bottom. Pool sparkles. Easy to use. Quite expensive though. Highly recommend.

I used Jack's test kit first and it told me which solutions to use. These solutions worked great.

I wish I had taken before and after because it is amazing. I tested out with one of the identification kits from Jack's Magic and then ordered this large container. Instead of doing the full water treatment, I simply bought a box of Leggs knee high leggings and filled about the foot portion full of the product. I then held it and moved it around the rust area for 45-90 seconds under water. Anywhere with light stains where I held/rubbed the leggings that had rust cleared up in under a minute or so. For the 6 light rust areas I maybe spent 15 minutes. For the 1 outlet where the plug had left quite a bit darker rust spot, I maybe spent 3-4 minutes instead of the shorter amount of time.End of the day - no more rust spots and I still have maybe 1/3 of a canister left.

We began to develop some staining in our pool that looked a little like rust spots. We're on a well (no city water), so this could have been the culprit. We were given a bottle of this from our local pool rep, and the rust stains disappeared in about two weeks. The label also recommended using Jack's Magic Purple Stuff (for salt water pools), which we didn't have at the time. After about 6 months, the staining re-appeared. This time, I treated with both chemicals and the stains were gone within several hours. Its been several months, and the stains have not come back. Couldn't be happier with this product.

i have an 18 x 36 pool. i used 2 qt bottles of blue stuff first then added the 2lb iron remover. it worked beautifully! the instructions were to buy another blue stuff and add a third bottle each week to keep the stain from reappearing. we followed the instructions but the stain is coming back. I just ordered another 1 lb iron remover and we are going to treat the pool again. this time i bought another product to keep the stain coming back. I wish the cost wasn't so high. it's been about $150 so far and a little frustrating.

Jack's Magic got rid of the some of the stains as promised. But the end result was my pool chemistry was screwed up for weeks. Ph levels and chlorine won't even register after use and I spent well more than the cost of the product to get the Ph back to near normal. I should have just dealt with the stains. I eventually had to call in a professional. If you use Jack's Magic, get ready for more horrific problems than your stains
