Read this for a point of view from a mechanic with 34 years experience.
I decided to purchase the MAXITPMS TS408 tyre pressure sensor tool because I already own three diagnostic tools which allow me to program TPMS sensors so I did not need the more expensive TS508.Let me explain. When I use my Diagnostic tool to go into programming a Tpms sensor on a ford focus the diagnostic tool will ask you to activate the front left sensor and the others in turn. I use the TS408 to carry out the sensor activation and use my diagnostic to program the new oe sensor to the vehicle. However if you purchase the Autel Maxi tpms sensors you can use the TS408 to read the sensor you are replacing for the hex code or if the sensor is damaged you can read the hex printed on the sensor itself. Then use the TS408 to program the Autel sensor with the same code so basically clone the damaged sensor. When fitted to the wheel the vehicle will see the new sensor as if it was the original and no programming to the vehicle will be necessary. So the TS408 can clone original sensors to Autel Sensors but cannot clone Oe to Oe which the TS508 can do through the OBD port. . TS408 is a great little tool and cheaper than the TS508 if you already own a diagnostic that programs Tpms and if you do not have a diagnostic then id recommend you purchase the TS508 as this will do everything without the need for a diagnostic tool. Hope this helps

Pricey for what it is.
I suspect this isn’t for consumers, but if you buy this and buy the Autel TPMS valves and take them to your local tyre fitter to fit for you, it’d pay for itself after 2-3 replacements, certainly if you’re going to replace all four, if you can scan your previous codes.

Works a treat.
I work in the trade (main dealer) and this is a life saver when trying to check TPMS status and coding... saves you having to plug a computer in or removing a wheel to get the codes of the sensors... highly recommend if you do this regularly... trust me lol

Not for me
I bought this as it says it can read the codes of TPMS sensors, and as I had some generic ones fitted to my wheels the other day and finding that my own diagnostic device didn’t have a 433MHz receiver in it but used six digit or HEX code entries and these were now in the wheels, I needed to read them. I also purchased a separate wireless trigger/wake up device too and despite this try as I may, driving down the road previously to trigger them, wirelessly trigger using the device or over inflating the tyres and deflating to 10psi as support pages suggested, this device repeatedly failed to get a signal off my sensors. It’s going back as it doesn’t work as advertised in the listing, and I have done all that I can with it. I’d have been better using a 433MHz remote code receiver from Aliexpress as at least it’d displayed some codes rather than a red cross and constantly failing. No doubt it works for others, but not for me.
