Hits you with realisation after realisation!
So many good quotes such as this..'The excitatory act, without thinking. The inhibitory think, without acting, and delude themselves into believing that they are highly civilized types. Civilization implies adjustment to a society, and the inhibitory are all anti-social.'This book encourages you to get out there, express and live..

The best book I've ever read
This is the book you've been searching for. I've lost count of all the so called "Self-Help" books I've read over the years, that promised results but delivered nothing. American psychologist (Andrew Salter) has written a masterpiece with this book; using numerous anecdotal case studies of his patients. When we're born we are spontaneous, outgoing babies and then children. The trouble he says begins when other people cause us to start "inhibiting" our natural outgoing behaviour, turning it inwards. Salter clearly and quickly shows within this book how to get your mind back on track, by releasing your inhibitory brakes, and going back to being an outgoing, assertive, spontaneous happy person again. Anyone feeling suicidally depressed needs to read this book without delay. If you stutter (stammer) when you speak, you need to read this book. This book is currently out-of-print and quite expensive due to it's scarcity. I've requested Amazon contact the publishers with a view to having this book made available to buy on Amazon Kindle in the near future. You could of course borrow it for free from your local library, but read it you must!!!

Useful and still relevant
I found this book very helpful, great for a beginner, full of practical advice and guidance, it uses plain English, doesn’t bombard the reader with too much complexity or confuse them. This is as relevant today and useful as when first publishedThanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
