Works with QNAP TS-251D

Got this today for my QNAP TS-251D as we have had at least 1 powercut a week over the last month. Unboxed it, plugged it in then plugged in the qnap, then the usb comms cable between both and all is working well - the Qnap reckons it has about an hours runtime via this UPS which is great. Have tested it multiple times now and NAS keeps running. There is no power lead with the UPS but there is a kettle lead extension...the idea seems to be you use your existing desktop/NAS kettle lead to run the UPS and the supplied extension lead to power the computer off the NAS. Also, FYI, when i unboxed the UPS and wiggled it a little there was a rattle from the inside...however, after taking the front panel off this just seems to be down to some free space around the internal battery (2-3mm either side) so nothing to worry about. No issues and seems to be a nice compact unit. The LCD display is also a nice touch as well as it can show remaining battery (time and percent) as well and input/output consumption.

Smaller than expected

Seems to work well, but perhaps I could have bought a larger unit. Haven’t tested USB comms yet.

Protects my network drive!

We get a lot of daft little 3-4 second power cuts where I live, often, many of them one after the other. I've already lost a 4TB hard drive from my NAS due to this so I thought I'd better prevent it from happening again. This device does NOT come with a power cable, but anyone who has computer(s) is bound to have about half a dozen spare ones lying around. If not, it's just a standard kettle lead. The outputs aren't regular 3-pin plugs, instead using C13 outputs. This might seem daft but you do get a smaller unit than it would be if there were six fullsize UK plug sockets on the back instead. I had to make a short adapter to plug in the transformer of my BT Home Hub 5 (3-pin socket on one end, C14 connector on the other). I also replaced the plug on my NAS drive with a C14 connector, which then plugged straight into the back of the UPS. I've probably made this sound more complicated than it is. If you know how to wire a standard plug, it's all very straightforward.I have a Synology NAS which, when connected to the UPS with the supplied USB cable, allows the NAS to shut down safely and automatically after either a fixed period of time, or when the UPS battery runs low. In either case, low UPS battery will force the NAS to safely shut down anyway.I only have my Home Hub 5 and NAS connected to the UPS. My phone line is VoIP so with no internet, I have no phone, which would be bad in emergency situations. Using this UPS, the display claims that it will support both devices for approximately 66 minutes. When the NAS goes into sleep mode (i.e. not used for an hour), power requirements will be minimal and the UPS support period will be even longer. It has a nice display on the front which shows you various information including power input voltage/frequency, output voltage, current draw, battery charge level, expected battery runtime, and more. You swap through the screens by each press of the "Display" button. The screen auto-powers off after a few seconds if not touched. There is also a Mute button which can be used to switch off the very audible warning beep when there's a power cut.Overall, brilliant item that will hopefully protect my hardware for years to come.

CyberPower is not what is used to be

I bought one and it was not working. When switching from main to battery, the UPS was unable to deliver constant power to the NAS even if the battery was fully charged. It was like someone was playing with the ON/OFF switch. I ordered then a replacement. This one, instead of shutting down a computer after one minute as scheduled, it restarted the computer. I returned the replacement also and asked for a refund. CyberPower is not what is used to be. I asked for support from their Customer Services. They said this product is not suitable to protect a computer and recommended to buy a more expensive model. What is this product good for if it cannot provide UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER when required? I want also to mention that each of them arrived in boxes having a flattened corner. Also a "FRAGILE" sign was not present on the boxes in each case. These UPSs weigh about 7kg so I assume they are not properly handled during transport. Amazon must do something about this! Currently, the price of this UPS is £120.98 new and £93.44 used-very good. What does it mean "used-very good" in this case: original packaging will be damaged. Imagine!

Better runtime, better software and better value for money than the market leader alternative.

I'm usually an APC man given I support IT infrastructures for a variety of companies but I;ve found that APC units aren't nearly as good as they used to be in terms of quality and longevity.I purchased this unsit to reaplace a similar APC unit for a company, and was impressed with the huge increase in runtime compared to to same price APC unit. I've got a server, 24 port switch, and internet connection (router and full fibre modem) powered off the unit and I've got around 68 minutes of runtime compared to the 34 minutes from the same price APC device. There is also a nice "mute" button that the APC unti doesn't have. Software works with servers whereas you either need to "tweak" the APC software to allow you a shutdown and restart option unless you go for their "Pro" option which doubles the price, so happy with the software.Overall, it' s a whole lot of UPS compared to the market leader for a lot less money. The 900w gives me a great runtime for short powercuts and only time will tell if the batteries will perform better than APC, but anything over 3 yearsis a bonus for me. So far, really impressed with what is delivered for a very reasonable price.

40 mins runtime

With my two computers and their 27inch monitors attached I have 40 minutes runtime after power failures, fortunately they are far and few between but they are great at stopping brownouts from affecting your devices. They are very easy to set up and the software support team are very helpful. In fact, I liked these so much I now have two, the other protecting my multimedia setup. The TV is too expensive to be destroyed by something as simple as a powersurge.
