Live Stock: A Street Called Straight

Red hot blues/rock for those love the guitar!
What can one say? Two awesome albums by one of the best, and most under appreciated, blues guitarists of all time. There are those who insist Eric Clapton copied his arrangement of Further On Up The Road from the version that appears on Live Stock (reportedly, Roy's producer gave Clapton a pre-release copy of the album on cassette, and Clapton sings the same verses as on this version, when he performs the song, a fact that's mentioned in the liner notes). If you love blues guitar, or any electric guitar playing, you owe to yourself to get familiar with these albums. This two-on-one CD also features great liner notes explaining the circumstances behind the recording of both albums and gives a lot of information concerning this part of Roy's career.

Better buys available
A Street Called Straight is not enough of a reason to buy this pair. Livestock is a pared down version of Live at Town Hall. Just get that one; it’s awesome and has double the songs of Livestock. You aren’t missing anything special with A Street Called Straight.

Roy Buchanan : Livestock & A Street Called Straight CD .
I have the entire collection of Albums by Roy Buchanan on Vinyl & some CD's and now building up my CD collection but couldn't find all the Albums unless prepare to pay way more for a second hand CD at the time and one was A Street Called Straight so bought this double Album Single CD for a reasonable price and tend to agree , they messed up the recording on Livestock & isn't so much as the sound but there's a gap - pause for a second o two towards the end of the tracks and even cut part of one song for a second give o take towards the end so if you're after Livestock one of Roy Buchanan's better live performaces and well recorded Albums you're better off buying the Album on its own unless you don't mind the gap - pause towards the end .Track listing on Livestock : Reelin' and Rockin' - Hot Cha - Furthur On Up The Road - Roy's Bluz - Can I Change My Mind - I'm A Ram andI'm Evil .As for A Street Called Straight a better recorded Album with 11 Tracks : Running Out - Keep What You Got - Man On The Floor - Good GodHave Mercy - Okay - Caruso - My Friend Jeff - If Six Was Nine - Guitar Cadenza - The Messiah Will Come Again and I Still Think About IdaMae .This double Album single CD was Worth buying new for A Street Called Straight at reasonable price with 18 items and 75 minutes long .

A Classic.....to me anyway
I had "Street Called Straight" on LP back in the day. Receiving "Livestock" in addition on this CD was a bonus. Turns out to be a lot of good bluesy music on Livestock, too. My favorite on Street Called Straight was my favorite going in, a cover of Jimi Hendrix' "If Six Was Nine".

BUYER BEWARE: mp3 GAPS RUIN THIS VERSION: Keep What You Got...
First of all, this review is for the 2005 BGO version of these albums only. Now the one star rating is NOT for the music. That is FIVE STAR! The poor rating is because BGO (which are usually top shelf releases) has decided that we will deal with the two second mp3 gaps between the songs. This is particularly annoying during the "Live Stock" album, but the gap between "If Six Was Nine" and "Guitar Cadenza" is no picnic either. If I wanted gaps between the tracks, I would have just downloaded the mp3s of these albums. CDs are supposed to eliminate this issue. This one does not (unfortunately). So if you have the original Polydor CDs of these albums, like another title on the "A Street Called Straight" album sez: "Keep What You Got!"

Interesante guitarrista.
