15 tooth metal gear
This starter is a 14 tooth gear (metal gear) not a 16 tooth gear. I'm sure it is a good starter but incorrect tooth count.

Bolts right up, seems plenty strong
So far so good, fit as expected, started Briggs & Stratton mower 20 hp engine without any trouble. Would buy again

Starter has short circuit.
I received the Starter today. I bench tested it with an Ohmmeter. There is no resistance from starter stud to its frame. So I suspected short circuit in the starter. Nevertheless I connected the negative cable of a 12 V booster battery to the starter frame and touched the battery positive cable to the starter stud. A big spark occurred as if battery terminals jumper cables touch together. No turning of the starter occurred.Incidentally, the starter head bracket and flywheel were bronze color, whereas the starter I received is regular chrome- silver color. But that doesn't really matter.I requested return and refund. It was approved.I will order from another Amazon merchant.
