Use this to double-check, before touching wires
I am careful with electricity... this is not the primary way I check for safe circuits. I use this as a secondary check to make sure I am not missing something (like two breakers powering a single box). It works well, and gives me confidence that I didn't overlook something. My only complaint is that the "power-off" beep is the same as the beep for when a hopt wire is detected. Invariably, I will confirm that a box is safe using this tool. and toss it in my toolbox. As I am working on the wires, I will hear the tool do a power-down beep, and my heart will skip a beat thinking that somehow something is "hot". Other than that, it's a great little tool, and I have two so I am never without one.

Great Product
Love the product, every house should have one for checking live cables/connections. Just remember to take the batteries out if not using for a long time. Superb quality and construction, never fails if used correctly.

Best Non Contact Voltage Tester
Although this devise has numerous applications, it is remarkably good at troubleshooting Xmas light strings; incandescent or LED. Just follow the voltage indication until it stops. Voila the best bulb! Also a terrific safety device to much sure power is actually off before starting any electrical work. This two range model will detect just about any voltage one will encounter.

Good brand name and product; does its job for two voltage ranges.
This NCVT pen is well built and does its job! It has two ranges for voltages: 12-1000V, and 70V-1000V and works on induction without actually touching the hot wires. A constant light for power on, and flashing and beeping light near hot wires. The lower voltage scale is useful for indoor instruments with 24V, like, HVAC thermostats, sprinkler controllers, etc. A previous cheaper one I bought stopped working in 3-4 days; hence, bought this one.

While it's not the only tool you should use to ensure a wire is not live it's a valuable tool to give yourself a sanity check. Is that breaker off? Was that the right breaker? now you have a helping hand
