The marking guage is well contructed. The gauge allows for fine adjustments to get an acurate setting. It comes with both inch and mm graduations. It came with plenty of additional leads for pencil marking as well as a fine point steel and an addtional wheel. The one drawback and why I gave it 4 stars is that the graduated markings are hard to see in certian lighting conditions as they are not very dark nor are the deeply etched enough to allow for filling in with paint to help them stand out. I am also concerned that using the locking limit screw on the side of the body will wear down the markings altogether if not one is not careful.

There is a lot to like about this gauge. It looks nice. it has micro-adjustments. It comes with an assortment of scribes. It is better than others that I have used. So I am recommending it. However, it still is not perfect.Number one issue is that the knife end wobbles too much. You have to draw the edge down as you seat the scribe so that knife is always flexed out. Or you could drag the knife in as you seat it to always make sure that it always flexed in. But if you just seat it without paying attention, the knife could be flexed in or out by 1/32" which is enough to mess up a mortise and tenon.The second issue is that it is almost impossible to lock the scribe one-handed. If you are holding the work piece in one hand and the gauge in the other. To lock the gauge with one hand, you need to first lock the micro adjust, then tighten the main lock, then undo the micro-adjust and do the micro-adjusting, then lock the micro-adjust again.

This gauge is as good as it looks in the picture, and seems to be made of high quality materials. I wish there were perhaps better instructions (I still can't figure out the micro adjust), but it's become my go-to marking tool, so nothing to really complain about.I guess I was expecting something very cheaply made, and was pleasantly surprised :)

Got this to layout the box & dovetail cuts on the block sets I'm making for my grandson. 30 blocks, 4 joints per block and 2 box/dovetail layouts per joint means ALOT of layouts and cuts and this marking gauge speeded thing up considerably while keeping things accurate. While there was a bit of a "learning curve" at first getting used to adjusting it, the gauge took little time to figure out and after a few practice runs I had it figured out and it worked great. Haven't had any issues with the cutting wheels and those are all I've used on all those layouts so far. When I use any of the other marking implements I'll edit and note as to their good / bad qualities. It came on time, in good order, well packed and as described with no missing pcs. I would recommend and would buy again.

I am teaching a wood working class and needed this for the class. I have used it some and it works great.

As yet I have not given the gauge a thorough run but my first impression is that this is a quality instrument at a reasonable price, with multiple features. Sorry I can not be more specific at this time.

NOTE: The low rating reflects the service, not the tool quality. I ordered the micro adjustment model in December 2019, on behalf of my wife , who received the item a week later. She presented it to me in April 2020 as a Birthday gift. Only then did I discover that wrong product had been delivered. But, alas, the return window had closed months before in January 2020. I had ordered the straight edge model with micro adjustment, but I received the dual function model (both straight and curved edge followers) but without the micro adjustment feature. The tool is beautiful and very well machined and finished, but the manufacturing precision means little without the micro adjustment to precisely set the cut line. Also, the model I received is larger and harder to hold and control then the model I ordered. The price for the two models was the same, but sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

In all, I think this is a reasonable unit for the price. However, there is one issue in particular that detracts from its accuracy. Specifically, the rolling wheel cutter's fixing screw sits slightly proud of the cutter, and therefore depending on how you use the gauge, your mark may end up slightly the wrong position. For example, if you drop the gauge cutter from your piece to a bench (to get the width of a piece you're marking for), the measure the cutter lays will actually be ~0.5mm short of the required measure. It's not a huge amount, but it will make a difference for finer work. I'll note that the stationary cutting wheel does not have this issue, as its fixing screw sits recessed within it (and therefore the cutter edge gives the true measure).Also, the blade doesn't seem particularly sharp, but I don't have experience with other gauges to say whether this is about normal or not.

First impressions - it seems a solid, well made little gauge. Smooth adjustments and easy to change the cutters. Just what I was looking for. Let’s hope it lasts.
