Uses real hyssop, not some fake substitute spice like so many "Zahatr" blends do.

There are many zaatar blends available, but this is a he best. It has a strong hyssop taste, plus a good balance of toasted sesame seeds, salt and other flavors.

You must try this combination of spices from the middle east/mediterranean. Goes great with all fresh veggies and salads. Delicious with avocado & tomato!

shakes out slowly

I have ordered this item three times. The first time was fine. The second time it came with a strange green top and was not sealed. The third time, it was sealed but I received a 4.25 ounce container instead of 5.3 ounces, as was advertised. They are charging a crazy expensive price (double what it costs in stores) and not delivering what is in the description. Very disappointing. If you order this, make sure it is sealed and they don’t cheat you on the size. I would not order again

Pereg sells two formulations of Zahatar. The Kosher for Passover has very little Zahtar as the main ingredient is Quinoa flour - Zahatar is a distant fourth after olive oil!. The contents has no Zahtar taste whatsoever. The second formulation is the non kosher for Passover and Zahtar is the first ingredient listed on the container. However. the taste and smell of this wonderful herb is weak. On our last trip to Israel we bought some Zahatar in a Jerusalem spice shop (open air) and it was fresh, aromatic and had a fantastic taste. The Pereg Zahtar is much inferior.

Learned about this brand from a friend. Just ordered a new one DESPITE the absurd $5 shipping fee! Clearly, I must love this stuff. Excellent for adding a little more depth to Caesar salads, omelets, veggie stir-fries... you name it. The smaller shaker holes get clogged easily, but thankfully the larger pour side is perfect. LOL on the 'best quality' ingredients.
