The yarn that came with this set was really tiny and very hard to work with. Ultimately they ended up tossing the yarn and just using a different yarn with the patterns. The patterns were good.

This was such a fun kit! It had plenty of supplies as well as extra left over. I felt like this helped me learn how to read patterns and each fruit helped conquer another technique. The videos were also so helpful and easy to follow. Highly recommend this kit! The zipper pouch it comes with helped me keep everything together while I traveled. Amazing value all around!

Crocheting is something I have always wanted to learn. I found this adorable set and figured it would be a perfect way to start. Boy was I wrong! The yarn is not user friendly, it frays and snags creating knots instead of loops. The instructions are too fast and not simple enough to understand. I’ve resorted to YouTube tutorials instead of using the instructions given. Also, they give you one of the smallest crochet hooks available. It’s too small to easily grab the yarn and create the intended loops (for someone trying to learn this for the first time). I plan on going to a craft store and buying acrylic yarn and larger hooks. I won’t give up on my crocheting journey, but it sucks that I wasted the money on a set that is FAR to difficult to use/comprehend. If you are brand new at crocheting do not waste your time on this set. I would say you need wayyyyyy more experience in order to purchase this.

This was purchased as a group activity (I didn’t have input in that), and it was a STRUGGLE to try to help six people learn the basic stitches while following this kit. Most gave up. I kept going without much trouble, but I’ve made a few crochet dishcloths and I’ve knit for years and years.I didn’t mind the yarn for what it is, the kit did have all the supplies, and it is fine for the cost. Don’t expect too much at this price point, it’s a decent deal overall.

Not for beginners.... But so far it's been fun. I made the avocado and it turned out pretty cute!

After I purchased this, I spoke to my mother in law and their family who are all knitters and crochet-ers and they all said that it’s crazy that this is considered for starters and Grandma basically told me to start off on squares for practice which I think was a great idea lol

It's nice to have an introduction to crochet and be able to try a number of different patterns. However, the instruction booklet is not very clear.There is a link to watch YouTube videos of each pattern, which is nice but they go way too fast and are not too clear.It's worth buying, but know that you will be looking up how to make different stitches from other sources because the book and video instructions are not that helpful.They give you enough yarn to make two of most fruits.

This kit makes a good follow-on from the same companies vegetable kit. It has more variety of stitches and shapes to make. An absolute beginner could do this kit if they liked a challenge and had patience, but it is best as a 'next step' for beginners.The yarn is sports weight/5 ply, and unfortunately comes vacuum packed. It is necessary to unseal the yarn and let it expand for a few hours before starting.The 3mm hook supplied has a rubber handle and is very comfortable to work with. There is plenty of yarn, so additional fruit can be made. I made an extra strawberry and a flower, I also made the Grapefruit (and it is a grapefruit, not an orange) larger around, and made the backs of both the grapefruit and the kiwi deeper.The instructions booklet, has an error in showing how to make the slip loop/magic ring, showing the tail of the yarn Infront of the loop instead of behind it. I also see no reason for the stick of glue. All the parts can easily be sewn together.

Bought as part of a Birthday present for my wife, who has just started crocheting, very impressed, I'm in the good books for a while.

I heave bought this for my granddaughter’s birthday as she has expressed a desire to learn to crochet. It looks really nice so I am hoping she will like it. I haven’t given it to her yet so I cannot comment further.

The yarn with this set is very poor. It splits into strands very quickly which makes learning very hard. I wouldn't recommend.
