Tomcat Press 'N Set Mouse Trap, 2 Traps/Pack (7-Pack)

I hate using kill traps, but I tried the humane ones over a very long period of time with no success (they'd work here and there, but they did not make an impact with regard to my mice issue). I decided to switch over to the kill traps for inside my garage and home (I don't use them outside due to the other wildlife that frequent my property). My mom gave me some of those cheap Victor kill traps - OMG, just don't even go there. They made me anxious, and rightfully so, they go off just setting them down. They are terrifying. I baited and set one and it went off twice on me just trying to place it. And that was the end of that. The kill bar is held up by a microscopic metal tab and they are so flimsy. EVERYONE I have relayed my trauma to has similar trauma with those cheap Victors (though many still are brave enough to continue to use them - such as my brother, who I learned after the fact was the one setting my mom's traps after thinking she was all courageous for using them). These had great reviews, so I went with them, and they are so worth it. Initially I thought they were one use, but I was disposing of them frequently enough I realized it was going to get expensive if I kept throwing them out. So I sucked it up and lifted the bar off one that had caught a mouse, and the mouse came off really easy, and the trap was easy to reset and still baited. No blood or anything. It's heartbreaking (I hate killing anything), but I find them simple to use otherwise. And while these are obviously sensitive, they are easy to set and sturdy and I feel confident carrying them and placing them (unlike the Victors, you can get a firm grip on these and it is very obvious that your hand is safe from being snapped when you handle them if for any reason one ever did go off while you were moving it). I am not sure how many uses they are good for, but I have one trap that has been used two times, and I just reset it for a third use with no issues. And the price on Amazon blows the purchase price of these traps sold by other retailers out of the water, it is such a good deal (even if you plan to dispose of them after one use). I wish more people would use these over the sticky traps, those break my heart, no living creature should have to slowly waste away, or gnaw off a limb to save themselves. They're just living their little lives. If they weren't so destructive and unsanitary, I wouldn't mind them at all. At any rate, I think these are the most humane option as far as kill traps go.

Revised: Reread the listing and learned that there were only supposed to be 7 sets. It just seemed odd because there was a perfect empty space for one more set in the box. Changed to 5 stars.These traps work great. Mice don't stand a chance. Just 4 stars because my last package of 8 pairs only had 7 pairs. Otherwise it would be 5.

They kill the mice quickly with no suffering. Unlike old school traps, these are easy to set and get in place without them going off prematurely. Since I rarely get mice and these aren't expensive, when I have a mouse I just toss the animal and trap. Peanut butter is the best bait. I had a trap in a crack by my fridge for two years with old peanut butter. I was surprised to hear the snap b/c I forgot about it.

i have tried all types of traps. I continue to be amazed by these Tomcat. I have caught over 50 mice with them. The catch rate is 98%. Other traps go off but no mouse. When these go off, you got the mouse. They seldom get away. In my book these are the best. It is easy to remove the mice and it is very easy to set them.The only negative is that out of the 14 I have had to throw 4 away, because the plastic hinge broke off. In spite of that, I believe they are the best and I am about to put in another order...

Saw some mouse droppings on my kitchen counters so I set up glue traps. Caught a smaller mouse but the bigger ones were too smart for glue traps. Bought a case of 14 of these traps along with the same brand attractant gel. Set up 4 traps with the gel. Didn't catch anything. Thought maybe it's because the brand new out of the box traps don't smell like the rest of my kitchen, or maybe these guys just don't like the gel. Sprayed some vegetable oil on the traps, set up more traps, baited with peanut butter this time. Couple days later, two of the traps set off and broke without catching anything, with the bait still intact. Not sure what happened. Maybe a mouse tripped them off but was too fast to get caught, or maybe the traps became overly sensitive due to the vegetable oil. Both traps had plastic pieces and the tiny spring fly off after breaking. Evidently, the flimsy hard plastic is too fragile to handle the force of the trap setting off.It had been 1.5 weeks at this time, the mice continued to roam my kitchen. Ordered a different type of traps, black plastic ones that look more sturdy, by the same brand, but before I even got a chance to set them up, one of these original white plastic traps finally caught a mouse. Quick death, no blood, easy disposal. This trap didn't break and was still usable despite one of its metal springs being crooked now.Maybe the mouse was desperate after not finding any other food on that cold rainy night, that it finally went for the peanut butter. Checked the other traps and realized 3 of them were licked clean without setting off. I'm okay with that. Probably made the mice think they're safe and then they get bolder and less cautious.Re-baited and reset the traps, put out all remaining traps this time. Caught two more mice within the following 3 days. Haven't been sign of any more.They do work well and eventually took care of my mice problem, but since some of them broke so easily beyond repair, and some just weren't sensitive enough to set off while the mouse ate the bait, I recommend buying the case instead of just a few, so you are bound to have some success. It took two weeks before the mice started getting caught, but all in all, happy with my purchase. Minus one star for lack of durability though.

My only regret was that I didn't order them sooner. These work great I couldn't be happier. They are easy to set up (I used peanut butter as bait) I put out 8 to start, within 4 hours I caught 5 mice. Will load more tomorrow. I don't reuse these, it's so much easier to just throw the entire thing w/mouse still attached in the trash. They are so reasonably priced that if I need more I'll just order more. Never had this mice problem before when I had my 2 cats but they died and now I'm left with their "play toys" !!
