Fantastic, but faulty.... TWICE!
These are possibly some of the best boots i've owned, beautiful, comfy and solid.HOWEVER, the two pairs that i have received both suffered from the same problem. The elastic along the top of the right side gore on the right boot has come away on both pairs that i have received from Amazon which leads me to believe that they are both from the same faulty batch that Amazon has probably purchased from Dr. Martens and is why they are selling at £85 rather than the RRP of £135Now i will be getting another pair of these as i cannot live without them now that i have had a pair (or two)BUT BE WARNED that yours may suffer from the same faults as mine.Fantastic service from amazon however!EDIT: I have now received my third pair of these boots and they are made in Thailand, whereas the two pairs i had before were made in Vietnam and as other reviewers had raised complaints about ones from Vietnam also then as long as yours are made in Thailand you should be fine!!

Very nice boots, especially for the price - but take care with the sizing
Still breaking them in at the moment, but they seem to be nicer than my old black 2976s. Previous pair were a UK Size 10 (Euro 45) and they turned out to be too big once they were broken in, so I went half a size down for these (UK 9.5, Euro 44) and they fit perfectly. Interestingly Dr Martens seem to be half a size out on the UK sizes compared to most other manufacturers - in all my other shoes a Euro 44 is a UK 10, and a Euro 45 is a UK 10.5. Worth bearing in mind, as if you order based on the UK size listed you'll probably find they end up being half a size too large. The leather is VERY nice quality compared to the smooth coated DMs - this is a traditional waxy leather, which takes a coat of Wonder Balsam very nicely, is very flexible and looks like it's going to age well. The chunkier soles on these 'core milled' rugged boots will hopefully last longer than the tradition DM tread pattern, which goes smooth after about 2 years and becomes lethal on anything other than dry tarmac (wet grass? I hope you like sitting down unexpectedly...).Overall I'd recommend these so far, especially at the price I got them (£60 at time of purchase, 50% of the price direct from Dr Martens).

Very nice but you get what you pay for
I haven't used these Dr Martin boots for very long, but I believe I can give a fairly accurate verdict anyhow. The boots are extremely comfortable and I do really like them a lot. But after having carefully examined and polished them, and watched how they are made I have come to the conclusion that I really can't expect these boots to last for a very long time.I really like Chelsea boots and have four pairs of Loakes. I bought the oldest of them (model 290) twelve years ago. I have worn them a weekly and sometimes even daily over the years and they still look just as if I have taken them out of the box for the first time. In contrast I expect these Dr Martin to last me no more then two or maximum three winters before they are completely worn out due to the poor quality of the leather and irreplaceable soles. Evenso when they go my feet will miss them.

Brilliant as always
I've been an avid buyer of Docs for years as I love how hard wearing and good quality they are, as well as stylish. This time is no different! The leather feels smoother, almost suede-like to touch (not the way it looks) than my own traditional lace up docs - these were bought as a gift for my boyfriend - but just as sturdy and well made. The soles allow good grip on any surface and look as though they'll last for years. These are less clunky than cheaper boots of the same style that we'd previously bought, and my partner tells me they don't wobble around on his feet like the others. They are harder to remove but it's worth it to keep them on all day!He is a size 7 in normal shoes but always buys 8 in boots, and says the 8's fit perfectly.I recommend buying the Dr Marten's 'Wonder Balsam' which gives these boots an extra smooth look and helps to break them in!

Almost impossible to get on
What have Dr Martens done to their boots? Before the demise of the high street shops i used to buy these boots by physically going to a store (i have had 5 or 6 pairs over the years)" Can i have these in a size 9 please?" i would say, " certainly sir" would come the reply. I would pull them on, say "yes thankyou i'll take those" and all would be well. Now i'm having to order them online and they are different, it is a monumental struggle to get them on. I have discarded a pair i bought a month ago (vegan leather) a total waste of £150 pounds. I thought buying proper leather ones would solve the problem but no! After a titanic struggle i got them on the other night (once they were on they were actually quite roomy) but when it came to taking them off again about 5 hours later it took me a whole 5 minutes of struggling and cursing to get them off. Serious design fault Dr Martens! I'm out of pocket to the tune of £300 pounds and very far from happy.

Black Leather Chelsea Boots
I first tried these boots on in a DM shop, but was wearing a suit and they looked a little bulky - wide and chunky. So I didn't immediately get them. When I returned wearing a pair of black jeans (my intended wardrobe match) I fell in love with them - they looked great! I also tried on a pair of the 8 hole lace ups which also looked fantastic but I felt these would be more flexible with my wardrobe.I purchased online from amazon at 35% cheaper than the shoe shop, with delivery taking 2 days.I am delighted with them. They are comfortable from day 1, they go great with black & blue jeans and with khaki or tan/brown chinos.I bought a jar of DM Wonder Balsam to help keep them supple. My fears are that now these boots are made in the far east they may not last like the DMs of yore, but so far so good.
