A Good Idea But Needs A Good Proof Read......
I love Matt's books and I was really looking forward to this book coming out. I got the nasty collection volume 2 as it contained this book and a couple of others. I'm not sure if this kindle version is the same but in the nasty collection I found that as much as I wanted to enjoy this book with it's great characters and gripping plot and enough gore to keep me happy the story was spoilt by the constant typos and spelling mistakes. It detracted too much from the story as I was constantly trying to work out what the author meant and it really did spoil it for me. It needs a really good proof read and for this reason I deducted a star. I am a huge fan of Matt's but on this occasion I feel a bit cheated as I waited ages for this book and it just seemed hastily churned out and not properly edited. I could have done a better job at the editing.Usually when a book is this badly proof read I tend to delete and not finish it and the only reason I continued was because it was by one of my favourite authors.I liked the idea and certain parts made me flinch. The plot is simple. A man's wife is abducted. He receives a dvd in the post with her being tortured and a message from her captors. If he wants to end his wife's suffering he should call the police if not he should wait until her captors grow bored and release her. If he waits he will receive dvd's showing everything that is done to her.....I look forward to Matt's next book but I hope the next one is better proof read.

Like pulling teeth?
Join the story Of Ashley Thompson and her fiancΓ© Matt Clay who are thrown head first into a horrifically dangerous situation. Matt receives a copy of a DVD in the post containing what seemed to be the image of Ashley. Her hair tangled and messy, makeup smeared all over her face while tied to a dentist chair. The film contained a warning to Matt from her captors that she will die if he reports it to the police, or they will continue sending dvd's until they simply get bored.Thinking of it as a prank by Ashley, he throws the video to one side..Matt 1Ashley 0From here on in, the story quickly accelerates, as Ashley's captors go to work, ultimately resulting to a physically, sexually and substance abused wreck of her former self.Anyone that has read Monster by Shaw and Bray will be aware of the capability of these two authors to write a compellingly disturbing story. This is no objection.Written as a split narrative Shaw writes from the perspective of Ashley and her captors. Truly horrible in parts, one scene will give you a phobia of dentists for life. Bray picks up the story from the perspective of Matt and does a fantastic job of capturing the emotional torment that the guy is going through. Should he wait, should he act, are people beginning to follow him or is he losing his mind? For me, one of the most terrifying parts of this story is that these two truly horrible characters show not the slightest bit of remorse, and no real reason is given for their actions. Not for the faint hearted

dont shoot me! just not my thing
I really wanted to love this book ! Honestly ! ............Had all makings of great read by kidnapping a woman filming the torture then sending it to her partner.the partner then has choice of report it to the police or carrying watching the sent videos on hopes they will release her when they get bored. SUPER! While being well written and thought about I was clearly expecting high-jacked up gorey bits (the usual Matt Shaw extremism) but I found it was lacking and tame compared to his other books.perfect for the horror fans who scare easily but not so much for extreme Gore and blood fans out there. This explains the mixed review but hey you can't please everyone all the time!!! AND ON THAT PLEASE NOTE :the stars are marked down purely by personal preference and own enjoyment. these are my just my views and not aimed not aimed aimed quality.quality is guaranteed here obviously when it's collaborating two great authors

Another gory great from Shaw
As always he hits the nail on the head and straight through your brain. Another edge of your seat ride from Shaw, short and definitely not sweet. Would recommend.

Sick depraved and unthinkable
Here is a horrific concept where one day you receive a DVD through the door and on it is ur partner tied to a chair being tormented humiliated and tortured. If you report it then she dies or u don't and you keep receiving DVDs until they get bored and release her or kill her anyway. You simply cannot put yourself in either persons position, both going through their own personal hell, one mental with the dilemma of report her disappearance and she dies,or don't but know by not reporting it you are basically giving them permission to keep putting her through agony. And two being the one tied to a chair awaiting ur next dose of pain and torment with a camera in ur face almost wishing they would just kill you. It is a gripping story with the added fear of no motive and no reason for the way they select their victims. Another shaw masterclass

Dark story written in the authors unique style. Blood filled and menacing. Not for faint of heart. I appreciate these for what they are. A good read

Not as extreme as its made out
I bought this book after reading the reviews and seeking something different in the horror genre. To be fair it is written really well. It kept me gripped so much I read it within an hour of purchasing it.To be fair , marketing it as extreme horror and gore is well a bit of a charade.in my younger days I was a big fan of Shaun hutson and his books are full of violence and sex so I didn't flinch one bit when reading this book.if you're are into torture porn such as hostel then this book will suit you.

Brutal
This for me out of all the books I have read from Matt shaw has to of been the most brutal. A gripping read you didn't know what was coming next. So much blood and gore and sex in there it was over flowing I loved it. I've stated up all night as I couldn't put it Down. A storyline that fascinates you from the very start an just gets better and better. NOT for the light hearted! I'd recommend any true horror black cover fans to read. Brilliant. I never read a book twice but this I definitely will.
