Effective and value for money
This does work well - far cheaper than the Nikon version but does the same thing.Having GOD tagged images is useful - the technology to review the locations in photo libraries isn’t common place but if you store photos in iOS, etc then it will let you browse maps to find photos. On several instances, I found it easier to look for the location rather than the name of an album or time. It helps future proof, too because technology that leveraged the location data may improve in the future. The photos are permanently tagged, so having a device like this is ideal and saves time.Things to bear in mind:It uses up power. I had it with a Nikon D750 so the impact on the battery wasn’t huge but was noticeable after a whole day. However, not having to tag the photos myself was a good benefit. It can take a while to find the signal, which means it’s easier to keep it on all the time. When I first tried it, it hadn’t found a signal for several minutes and I thought it was faulty but when I moved location, it fired up fine. It worked in the original location, afterwards, but it’s not infallible. You may get some false readings but generally it was accurate and updated frequently. It’s definitely more accurate than the Nikon Z with SnapBridge! The cable that connects the device to the camera is too long and is an inconvenience. It’s not enough of an inconvenience to not use it but would be nice if it was thinner and shorter. You may want to source another cable but the connector is hardly commonplace. It’s useful to have the remote but I never used it. I just used the normal remote and removed the gps.

It works with minor issue
It works.Only annoying part, is that if you walk into a building and loose GPS lock, it goes to zero, instead of remembering last known position.

Excellent GPS
I bought this for my new Nikon D780. I set it up and it worked beautifully first time and every time since then. The "by-pass" that allows you to use the supplied remote control also works well. The only problem (a minor one) is that the altitude measurement does not seem to be too accurate in that it has suppled three different altitudes for my living room; this may, of course, improve when I can use it outside. Overall, a gem of a buy at £35!

You get What You Pay For
I am a little disappointed with this unit as it doesn't accept a GPS signal in some of the places I have used it with a Nikon D750 whereas my iPhone gets the signal every time. I guess this is the price you pay for buying 'cheap' as the Nikon alternative is close to £200... hopefully. one day, all DSLRs will have GPS built in..That said, when it works it works fine and provides a Lat & Long position in each photograph's metadata

Unit seems fine but connecting cable is rubbish
The GPS unit itself seems fine but the connecting cable is rubbish. The connector for connecting it to the cable release port of the camera sheared after less than a week. I had to send off to Germany for a replacement which was expensive as this is a fairly unusual cable combo. Still, at least it might be better quality than the rubbish one Micnova supplied. Can't comment on the long-term durability of the unit yet as I haven't had it for long enough.

As good as the Nikon GP-1 if not better!
I shot a trip with two cameras, one with this and one with the Nikon GP-1.Anyone who says this takes a while to lock on obviously hasn't used a GP-1, this is as fast, if not faster at locking on to satellites than the Nikon own brand model. At £35 this is a bargin, i have broken two cables for my GP-1 and the replacements are £55 each - this is much better value for money and works as well if not better!

Fantastic... Briefly, then trash
For a brief period, this was a fantastic accessory for my Nikon DSLR, seems pretty accurate, tags the photos well.My issue is that the cable that links the GPS to the camera is weak and poorly designed. It sticks out of the camera like a sore thumb, easily knocked, and because of it's poor construction, it broke on my second walk.It was just plugged into the camera as it hung from my neck but the camera moves as you walk, and it must have knocked against my body and just snapped off.Replacement cable? The only one I've seen so far on Amazon costs £26! For a £40 GPS kit that came with said cable, and another I don't use, seems extortionate! If the cable was made of stronger materials, maybe if it was right angled and didn't stick out so much, it would be okay, but it is not, and as a result, after two walks with my camera, it is fit for the bin!Don't waste your money!

Works on Nikon D850!!
I bought this as a trial really - as one of the reviews says that this does not work with the Nikon D850. It does! For the price, this is a fantastic buy.I have a commission to photograph wildlife on a private estate. One of the stipulations is that I must 'prove' that my pictures were taken on the estate. This little device is perfect for this purpose. Highly recommended. I also have not noticed any large battery drain - even though I kept it switched on for about 4 hours.
