Strap problems
Shame I can only give these 2 stars - could be much better with a bit of redesign. There's no instructions but they are easy enough to assemble. The studs have hexagonal heads that fit into same shaped holes on the top of the sole. They are secured underneath with nuts, using a spanner that's supplied. Clip-together straps fit into the best slots in the sole for your shoe size. So far so good - they are inexpensive and seem sturdy. Big problem though is that you often need a bit of force to lift your feet out of the ground and the straps continually pull loose. They thread through the buckles in a way that's supposed to pull tight on themselves but they are still slippy enough to come loose with almost every footstep rendering these pretty useless. Also, if you stumble you can't move your feet quick enough to prevent a fall so beware of hazardous areas - slopes/drops/pools etc!I'm going to recycle the studs into a home made block aerator.

Clip broke within 15 steps.
Having read the many bad reviews regarding the straps breaking, I thought for the price, I'd give the a try. No problems with them, except the plastic clips broke on 1 within 15 steps rendering it useless. I thought if the straps broke. I could at least find an alternative to use but as it's the actual clip, there is no way of fixing it. As many have said, the actual foot part and spikes are great! All being said, I asked for a return and refund and had no issues. Such a shame as really sturdy foot/spike part.

Shocking straps that undo and break
Absolutely shocking straps no matter how the straps are assembled and no matter your weight or shoe the straps just come undone with every single step. After persevering and pain in back from constant bending over to tighten the buckle broke. Shame as the base and spikes are great straps and buckle awful. Don’t buy these they are rubbish. You can soend the same money and get decent ones as I have got a replacement that cost the same and the straps are amazing and of a different build quality

Not Perfect, but a Reasonable Buy
I think the trick with these is to get them as tightly done up as possible. I got the left one done perfectly and it worked very well. The right one needed quite a lot of adjustment before it was nearly right. I wore both but had a stick in case I fell in the mud! They worked effectively and my grass (muddy) has now got more holes in it than it's had for a long while - so no complaints. I wouldn't bother to buy more expensive ones as I'm sure fitting is tricky with those as well - it's like the old fashioned roller skates that you put over your shoes, they were never perfect either!

Great spikes, poor straps
The principle is great and using them would be great as well, if only the straps were effective. I have two average size lawns, one front, one rear, but I cannot do either lawn entirely without the straps coming loose at least twice. I need to find another way to make these straps stay fastened then I’ll be happy.Having read the other reviews lots of others have had the same problem, so you’d think the supplier, or manufacturer, would have listened, recognised and fixed the problem by now.

Benefits slimmer people
Unfortunately for my 215 lbs i could barely moveo, the spikes sunk into the ground and it was hard work moving anywhere which would have taken me a week to cover my garden. They also kept coming off my feet straps were ineffective.

Probably one use only
The shoes need the spikes inserted into the moulded holes. On tightening the head of the spike spins inside the mould preventing it being fully tightened. A previous reviewer suggested gluing the heads to the sole before tightening. This may solve the problem but they should be made to a better standard. The spikes will loosen very quickly when in use. Item returned for refund.

Did the job once you get them yo stay on your boots
You have to play about with the straps to get them to stay in place we ended up putting shoe laces in the middle hole after that they stayed on to do the whole lawn. I'm hoping the aeration works for my dead dry lawn. Grass seed should take much better now.
