We love the larger version of Splendor as well, but this is a great game for just my partner and I to play. Fun game, easy to learn, and compact size making it easy to take it anywhere.

Splendor Duel is a great 2-player update for Splendor. There are more win conditions as well as special card abilities, and you draft gems from a board with a variable layout, all of which make the game more interesting and less predictable. The components are really nice, especially the poker-style chips and the privilege scrolls. The whole game packs into a small box, so it's something you could travel with, though the table footprint does take up some space. The rulesheet is clear and straightforward, so it's an easy to learn game that leaves a lot of room for strategy and growth the more you play. One of my favorite quick games!

It's easy to learn. My wife and I play it and we like the fact that games last roughly 30 minutes, so it's perfect for right before going to bed. It's engaging and keeps you focused the whole time. It can be absorbing as you assess all ways to win. It's also very portable, as the box is small and easy to assemble and put back together. Highly recommended.

My husband proposed using the original Splendor game. We're huge fans. This game is easy to use with two people and a lot of fun. It's very different from the original Splendor, in that the strategies used in the original game don't work in this game. It was a lot of fun learning new strategies with the same basic gameplay. Highly recommend for couples.

I am writing this because I just don't see enough reviews for this masterpiece.We have been playing the original Splendor for years, and more often than not, as a two-player game, which it affords. It has always been one of what I call "Clean rule" games. That is to say-it is logical, and the rules make sense. No ambiguities, which we like.I was so excited to see this "duel" variant come out. First, because we love the original. Secondly, it is a small, portable option, and we love throwing a few games into the car when we hit a café on the weekend-Res Arcana and Wingspan are two favs, and the boxes are quite big.It's great.This game plays in the Splendor world, but adds some new victory conditions, the three of which are:20 total points10 points in the same color gem stackTen CrownsThose of you who have played the original will note the addition of crowns.There are also scrolls that allow you to take a gem before your turn, as well as card that have additional powers of allowing you to steal a gem from your opponent (other than gold), take another turn, or take a scroll.There is a new mechanism for taking gems as well as a new gem-the pearl. Another reviewer notes that this pearl gem (of which there are only two) are a bit OP and very necessary making them a bit much, but to that reviewer I will note-gold can be pearls, so ostensibly, there are five possible pearls.We love it.It's a great, two-player game, and a much beloved addition to our two-player fun.Recommended.

Challenging game and fun take on the original. Packaged tightly. Careful with sharp object to get plastic off chips.could scratch them. Donated several now to local prisons for their visiting rooms.feedback is good.

If you like Splendor, I would get this before the expansion. The gem selection on the board and multiple win conditions add a lot. I would put it as a part with regular Splendor. Both play well at two.

Absolutely love this game!! Spent over 20+ hours on it and stayed up late. Realized we were playing wrong for like 5 games but still enjoyable!! Really gets your brain working if you’re try hard. But even without try-harding and preventing the opponent from winning, you can still have fun and even win! Def a more strategy game and fun trying to stop opponent from winning!
