I bought the 25.6” crate thinking it would be fine for my 9 pound silence. I love the fact that it folds up so easily. I would definitely recommend the 31.5” or larger if your dog likes to sprawl out. The mesh is a good quality~The crate folds down in the back go the vehicle, with dog blankets piled in a heap. The dog was comfortable in his travel harness, flopped on on top. He traveled well. My host was pleased to have us arrive with the crate and it's light weight made SO easy to use.

yes. the black mesh rolls up just like the sides do.

First of all,measure your pet from the top of the head to the floor; it only needs to be one to two inches higher than this measurement. Secondly, measure your pet from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail; it only needs to be 4 to 6 inches longer than this measurement.

Q: Does the screen part of the crate come with the tabs that are visible in some of the pics, or is adding that optional?

Sadly, I’m not sure what tabs you are asking about. I did go back into the product pictures, and as far as I can tell everything that’s shown comes with this unit. The screened panels zip up, and there are Velcro strips attached to the portable crate to keep the panels rolled up if desired. It’s a really nice travel crate….
