Q: Lg 34gp83a-b vs 34gn850-b any difference?

HDR 600 is brighter and offers more colors than hdr10

Q: Can this monitor run 1440p at 120hz over hdmi? or only over displayport?

I have tried with the best spec HDMI and it only displayed at 60hz. For 144hz, I believe you beed display port. Maybe there was something wrong with the HDMI cables I tried. I tried multiple ones that claimed to support the latest standard.

Q: has anyone upgraded from the x34 predator (120hz) - is this worth it for the 144 on FPS gaming?

I have an X34P also and am wondering if this is worth the upgrade. 160hz overclocked would be nice. But other than refresh rate, it seems the differences are very subtle..
