Great for both glossy and matte
I do mostly black and white and these are excellent on both types of paper (meaning the MBK for matte and PBK for glossy). There is surely better out there but at this price point the PFI-300 series is tough to beat.

The best ink for Canon's Pro 300 printers
Canon's inks for its Canon Pro 300 are the best choices, expensive but far less prone to get clogged than the imitators. But like many printers the inks don't last long and are way more pricy than they need to be.
