Sony RMT-P1BT Professional Bluetooth Wireless Remote Commander

Worked perfectly with my RX100M7. It’s nice that you can switch from video to still and from zoom to focus without touching the camera.

I bought this for my wife who is a keen photographer and thus the review is created by her own fair hand. She uses a Sony A7 and Sony A6100 and this remote is primarily used on her 6100 which, is set up most of the time catching the birds that visit our garden. Anyway, over the The Boss.This remote is an absolute dream to set up and my Sony A6100 quickly found the remote and paired straight away. No less than you would expect from a quality compatible product but, nonetheless this sets the tone for the whole experience of using this remote.Once paired I was able to autofocus and release the shutter from in front of, to the side of and most importantly behind the camera - because this is a Bluetooth remote, as opposed to an infrared and doesn't need direct line of sight to the camera. The remote will work happily up to 5m from the camera with no delay in response.I have focus magnify assigned to my C1 button and the C1 button on the remote replicates this function. Although I haven't tried it, I assume the C1 button on the remote will replicate whatever you have assigned to C1 on your camera, but I can't think of any other function that would be of benefit remotely.The + and - buttons enable fine focus without the need to touch the camera, I find this especially useful when tripod mounted on full zoom as any slight movement on the camera through touch results in large movement through the viewfinder.By switching the side buttons you can swap between zoom and focus and once again the + and - will work for both and can also switch between still photography or movie and providing your camera and lens support this, all the functions for still photography will work for movie.Now, this is an expensive item for what it is and you can certainly buy generic remotes that probably do more for half the price. However, this is guaranteed to work out of the box, is very well made and has a sense of quality about it that many 3rd party items don't. Given that it will be used for years, it's a justified cost.This remote is a very worthwhile addition to any camera kit.

Works with Sony A7RIVa easy to set up and it works instantly no re setup required after a switch off.

It is well-built and works flawlessly. It allows me to eliminate camera shake, and focus when taking self-portraits.

Having purchase different make that did not work and had to be return, this was quick and simple to install and works perfectly.

It was purchased with some trepidation after experiencing the rather poor Sony app connectivity, but I have to say this remote works very well.Connection is instant and reliable on A7Riv, the remote stays connected for as long as you have Bluetooth Remote On selected in the menu. It's better to use a bluetooth remote than a cable into the fragile micro UBB port.There's no lag, focus is fine tuned for focus stacking, bulb mode operates with press to open shutter/press to close, no need to hold shutter button downVery happy with it

I bought this because I did not trust the Sony app to remotely operate my Sony A7 V, I has previously had issues (another brand of camera) with the wireless connection getting lost whilst making a photograph. So this seemed the perfect answer, out of the box it's a quality product and well made. There is even a custom button.I had a bit of trouble setting this up with my camera - The set up instructions appeared very easy however after a couple of hours getting increasingly frustrated I discovered Sony had left out 2 essential steps. To get the unit to Syncronise with the camera after following the enclosed instructions, turn on bluetooth etc you should only then Press and hold 2 buttons on the remote, the shutter release together with either the + or - button for 7 seconds; only them will the camera synchronise with the remote. Nowhere in the instruction manual is this even mentioned only after hunting the Sony Camera forums did I discover this fact. Following that revelation the camera immediately Synchronised wit the remote.My only other caveat is the remote looks all too easy to lose in the field, helpfully you can attach it to a lanyard.I am looking forward to using the remote very soon.
