Works well on galvanized metal.
Wipe metal with vinegar and apply a couple of coats. Works well for me.

Paint Over Gloss
I had to get my mom's house ready for sale, and for some reason the first realtor I tried to work with thought it was a good idea to paint the birdhouses (without even asking me!) a yucky primary school blue and red combo that completely clashed with the house. Worse yet, they used high gloss paint. People told me nothing was going to cover it, but I did some research and found Zinsser Bondz. This stuff is amazing. In spite of rainy weather and uneven (un-sandable) surfaces, it coated, adhered, and set the birdhouses up for the application of the house colors.I only wish you could get this product in California stores, but am grateful that I can order it on Amazon.

Love it
It helps bond the paint to your project. It goes on nicely, not too think or runny. There’s no fumes either. It dries quickly.

Didn’t work for me
This product did not cover well and left streaks on the bi-fold door I was prepping for painting. I had to sand off the primer and then reprise the door with Kilz. I was disappointed since the other reviews were so good.

Works well ...but takes to long to dry ….used it on a closet in the basement left door open ...closet has air vents and still took over a week to dry...

This is the perfect primer for galvanized surfaces. Going on 3 years, with no flaking or separation of the latex top coat.
