The product is good when you get the right size
I've bought quite a few pairs of these trousers over the years. Don't buy the size you think you want as they won't fit. Get a pair in plenty of time because chances are they'll need to be returned. I took care to check the size of my current pair, ordered the same, they came and nearly fit. I've given up on buying on line and in future will have to find a shop. Good trousers though.

Good value, warm and windproof but poor waist fastening and design detail.
A very warm and comfortable pair of trousers that I used for a skiing and ice climbing trip to the alps last month. The big problem with the design is the popper fastening for the waist band which keeps coming undone, even though the trousers were a loose fit on me. To stop them falling down I had to use a belt which is unnecessary. Because of that I can't recommend them. A strong popper or a button and button hole is required. The zippers on the pockets are very hard to use in cold weather because the tabs are small and very fiddly.Excellent warm and windproof for ice belays and skiing. Good freedom of movement for ice climbing. You do overheat if you use them for walking as there is nothing the design to allow for ventilation; you can't remove them without taking your boots off.Great materials have made a warm and windproof design but probably more suited to winter dog walking than winter mountain activities as it seems pretty obvious the designer hasn't spend any time in the hills in winter. I have now modified mine to suit the activities I want them for but next time I'll buy something where I don't have to do the designers work for them.

Almost perfect pants
I wear a decent branded gortex coat, gortex boots and I keep my feet and my torso dry when hiking. I’ve always worn normal walking pants and just waited for them to dry after the rain. Stupid idea...!I hated that feeling when the rain ran off my jacket on to my groin or when I soaked through to my boxers. Those things are gone now.I was always put off waterproof pants by friends and family who said they’re not comfy and they’re too warm. So I made do with overtrousers that went over my normal pants. These are a nightmare as they’re never too comfy and I hate having two pairs of pants on.So I bit the bullet and tried a pair of proper waterproof pants from Craghoppers. I was a little concerned about the fleece lining being too warm, but having just tested them on the Cornish coast in a gale and heavy rain I can say they’re a godsend. The pants fit almost perfectly. I’m not keen on the hipster like fit on my bum, so it’s 4 stars and not 5, but other than that they’re great. The ankles tightened around my boots to stop rain running down my pants into my waterproof boots and the feel was snug and comfy. The zip pockets keep my phone and wallet dry.The pants are spot on. My legs stayed dry and just the right cosy temperature. They were a pleasure to wear in horrendous weather and along with my waterproof coat and boots I was fully protected from the weather. If you’re making the mistake of wearing normal pants and just waiting for them to dry you’ll love these. And if you’re an over trousers wearer, this is an upgrade in comfort. My friends were cold and fed up when we were hiking today. I was cosy and happy. I managed to stay out for hours without any issues and was as dry as a bone on return. The quality seems spot on and they’re easy to climb / scramble with.

Get a larger size!
Great trousers but they are a snug fit! I take a 32L in jeans and even these are a little loose at times. I did see some conflicting reviews on whether to get a bigger size or not, but I can confirm now, that a bigger size is a must!I originally ordered a 32R however putting them on was like putting on a really skinny pair of jeans, and the old meat and two veg were a little compressed! I’m 6ft and 13stone but have a slim waist and have always gone for 32 waist trousers never with a problem! I opted to send them back and go for a bigger size.I’ve now got a pair of 34R, and although a little snug around the bum and crotch they are much better and I can tolerate them! Good trousers for walking and removes the need for over trousers in the rain, but by gosh get a size up from what you are!

Great trousers, slight poor fit
Usual Craghopper quality let down by poor sizing and low cut back. The sizing is a little smaller than most other brands, so order one size larger and you should be okay. The fit is a good confortable fit made even better by the slight fabric stretch, but why oh why is the back of the waistband so low?! They are almost hipsters!! Craghopper needs to address this common complaint, active trousers all need to have plenty of height at the back for confort and warmth. Being a large bloke I will need to wear braces with these to keep them up high enough for comfort when I would prefer to use just a belt. Overall well made, too early to say whether they are wateroproof and how hard wearing they are, probably would not buy again unless they change the cut of the back of the trousers.

Craghoppers Steall
I'm a 32 waist and 31 leg; they fit perfectly, if just a little bit too perfect. But they are a little forgiving in the waist. They are waterproof as far as I can tell; I wear them for golf and it saves me changing into over-trousers. Very soft and comfortable: a bit warm when the weather warms up with having a lining. The pockets are adequate, but the front hand ones could be bigger; the pocket stitching is weak and one has come away on the top stitching after 7 month's use. The popper is weak, and I think, like a lot of outdoor clothes designers, they are trying to make them too sleek and pretty. Take note Craghoppers: they are a functional trouser and we need to have bigger, better fastenings - we're not on the catwalk or dining in a restaurant. We are outdoors with cold hands and fingers. Overall, however, I would buy again. They are worth the money. No doubt these would be equally good on the mountains in cold weather, since I was a mountaineer one upon a time, although Haglofs are more rugged, and a lot more expensive.
