worked well and is a good value
The unit is well made, I have only run it up to about 3.5A and it performed as expected. It was only a little warm after 20min of operation.

Better than expected quality.
Good looking and smooth working variac transformer. Accurate enough voltmeter-reads 110 on 115 volts actual. The knob turns easily and is very smooth. Voltage varied from 0 to 136 volts with no jumps or misses. Comes with 4 extra 5amp fuses. I'm satisfied with this product. Non isolated ground and the case is earth grounded. This is great for the hobbyist or pro.

This works great for controlling fan speed on pedestal and box fans.
My pedestal and box fans had 3 speed setting, fast, faster, fastest, and the noise to go along with the modes: loud, louder, loudest. By plugging in the fans to this, they can be whisper quiet, and still make enough wind to keep the air moving. I can set the fan to it's highest setting (fastest, loudest), and tune it down so low I can see the fan blades turning. I am sensitive to noise and this helps alot!

Great price, works like it's supposed to.
I've already used it to bring up some old tube amps and reform some capacitors, does the job just fine. Volt meter is in range and you can't beat the price. I'm not sure if the amperage rating is true or not, but no problems so far. Comes with extra fuses, haven't needed them. Nice fit an finish, seems well built.

I bought this to use with a blower fan. It works great for adjusting the fan speed in a controlled manner beyond the limited range provided by the manufacturer. This device is well built, appears to be made of durable materials and feels solid/heavy. I have no negative feedback on the product and would recommend to other purchasers.

Lasted me less than a year with light use
I bought this to adjust my fan speed for my coffee roaster since it didn't have fine adjustments. This works good and allows me to have both low, medium, and high fan speeds whereas before I had a switch that just turned it straight to high.UPDATE: the outlet on this variac no longer works, so when I plug in my coffee roaster fan to adjust the fan speed I get nothing. When I plug the same fan into a regular outlet it works. This lasted me about 11 months with light use (1-2 times a mont for 1hr each time). Would not recommend.

It’s okay.
Works as it should, however, it arrived with the meter out of place. Trying to pull it forward with pliers only pushed it back. The concern is that the loose meter, secured by a small clip on the side, could contact the transformer inside and damage it or get burnt. While the price is good, and it works, it did nonetheless arrive damaged due to the design/quality of how the meter is secured.
